As businesses return to the workplace, many have new demands. With dog-friendly offices now top of that list, we’ve rounded up some of London’s best offices for pups.

We recently caught up with our Flexible Office Solutions team to understand the latest office demands from UK businesses.

Tom Walsh, a Senior Surveyor in the team, said he’s inundated with requests for dog-friendly offices: “Dog-friendly offices are top of the list for many, which makes sense when you consider the number of people who adopted puppies during lockdown. No-one wants to leave them at home, which is entirely fair. Plus, dogs make great office mascots.”

Dogs have held the title of man’s best friend throughout much of history – and for good reason. They add just as much value in the workplace, too; they can improve employee happiness, boost productivity and help us avoid a sedentary day.

Dogs can make us feel happier

Dogs have actually been shown to make us happier. Studies have illustrated that even short interactions with dogs can boost our levels of oxytocin – a hormone which makes us feel relaxed and safe. In fact, it’s quite common for dogs to be used in therapy programmes which are designed to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Dogs can improve workplace productivity

Research has shown that having dogs in the office can help you work better. In fact, a study found that employees who brought their pets to work experienced lower levels of stress throughout the day – and in turn, were likely to be happier and more productive than those who didn’t share their day with a four-legged friend.

Dogs help us move more

We know how detrimental a sedentary lifestyle can be to our bodies and minds. Sitting for long, uninterrupted periods of time is said to slow down your metabolism, which hinders your body’s ability to regulate its blood pressure and its blood sugar levels.

But an office dog is a perfect incentive to get up and go for a walk, or even just take a quick screen break away from your desk.

So, for teams on the hunt for a dog-friendly office in London that would gladly welcome workplace pets, we’ve rounded up a handful of options.
