Spotlight on LABS' 90 High Holborn: A Day in the Office

When it comes to ultra-modern offices in London, the bar has been set pretty high by a handful of top contenders. Among those is LABS’ 90 High Holborn. So, what’s it like to work there?

Beyond the open-plan lounge, corridors are lined with private offices and meeting rooms – named Sapphire, Ruby and Topaz – as well as a variety of other spaces to meet the demands of the modern workforce; booths for undisturbed alone time, rooms for focussed phone calls and a prayer room.

LABS’ Holborn campus

LABS’ offices are organised into ‘campuses’ – giving members the chance to stay flexible and use a network of buildings which are all within walking distance of one another.

A short stroll away from 90 High Holborn, for example, is LABS House, the latest addition to the LABS family, complete with a restaurant, a stunning bar, lounges, dedicated working zones, a gym and breath-taking views of London.

Further north, LABS’ second campus, the Camden Triangle, is centred around the iconic Camden Market. Across both, members can use the dedicated LABS app to book meeting rooms and connect with the community.

The LABS community

During lockdown, when members had to work from home, the LABS team tried its best to maintain its sense of community – while also keeping it safe.

For example, LABS has a regular events calendar which is tailored to its members – featuring some standout collaborations with partners such as TEDxCamden. But since lockdown, the events calendar has moved online – though it’s no less engaging.

Likewise, its bi-weekly ‘LABS Insider’ newsletter was rebranded to become the ‘LABS Stay-Insider’ newsletter, featuring a range of topical and inspiring articles on how to take the work out of networking, the importance of addressing unconscious biases and how to alleviate back-to-work anxiety.

To make members feel safe as they return to the office, LABS has also made a few short-term changes create Covid-secure workplaces, which will also inform its strategic approach to design in the long-term.

These include signage, queue management, IT updates to ensure seamless connections, heightened cleaning regimes, one-way systems and enhanced air filtering.
