_Poetry for Heroes: Barts Charity
Poetry for Heroes is intended to spread a little joy and encourage creative spirit during what is an incredibly tough set of circumstances for all those who work in the NHS.
So far, over 26 poems have been submitted to the account and over £500 has been raised to support Barts Charity.
Two weeks ago we hosted an Instagram Live on our main Instagram account to promote the initiative. Jessica, along with James Pace, the Head of our Kensington office, took over the Knight Frank account to discuss the importance of creative outlets during this time and why the work Barts is doing is so important.
In order to raise further funds, we created a poetry competition where we encouraged our followers to submit their poems and donate to Barts – the reward being a feature on our blog.
From the entries, we picked five of our favourite poems to showcase the power of poetry amidst the chaos of life during Covid-19.

The Winning Entries
Ony Dozie
What a time to be alive
Don’t believe the newspaper lies
Locked in, locked down
My virtual yoga instructor sighs
Inhale in, exhale out
The sessions over before daylight
Reality of today, clouded with doubt
Praying optimistically with all my might
Never again will we have this moment
Where the businesses are shut
And the streets absolutely silent
With our minds at rest
Remind, embrace and smile
The natural wonders around you
Just as you were a young child
Seeing the world from their point of view.
