_Burns & Mcdonnell chooses Cornerblock as UK headquarters
The company, which was formerly in serviced offices on Broad Street, has taken a five yearfive-year lease on a 4,500 sq ft office suite at Cornerblock in Cornwall Street.
It was advised in the transaction by property consultants Knight Frank. Landlord Bruntwood was represented by Avison Young.
Burns & McDonnell is a full-service US engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting solutions firm, which employs 7,000 people worldwide.
Jonathan Chapman, UK Managing Director, said: “‘We have selected Birmingham as the location of our UK Headquarters because of the strategic location of the city with its unrivalled connectivity to other regions of the UK. The large number of infrastructure projects taking place within the region and the highly skilled local labour force were also factors in locating in Birmingham city centre.”’
Will Higgins, from the office agency team of Knight Frank in Birmingham said: “After a thorough review of the market, it quickly became apparent that Cornerblock aligned with Burns & McDonnell’s values due to the building’s strong sustainability credentials and wellbeing offering. The move is a demonstration of Burns & McDonnell’s commitment to Birmingham as the ideal base for its UK operations.”’
Following a £14 million redevelopment by landlord Bruntwood, Cornerblock became the first building in Birmingham to achieve an ‘A rated’ Energy Performance Certificate.
