Laura Dam Villena, Head of Knight Frank Queen's Park, on why this well connected and lively spot in North West London is a great place to live for fans of interior design.

Do you ever find yourself completely distracted by apps like Pinterest and Houzz, admiring other people’s incredible flair for interior design?

If you are one of these people and you are on the hunt for a home, look no further than Queen’s Park (NW6/NW10) or Kensal Rise ( NW10).

Despite the fact that the area's housing stock is made up of many similar style houses - terraces ranging from late Victorian to 1930’s architecture -  interior design is rarely identikit.

One of the joys of working in property in Queen’s Park and Kensal Rise is that every day I am invited into a home which is authentic and exciting. The interior design vibe in these areas is ‘the more original the better’, making every visit to a new property unique; no day is the same.

Knight Frank has recently sold a house on Hardinge Road in Kensal Rise, an appealing street of 1930s semi detached houses. The house had been completely stripped back and reconfigured to create an uber cool and substantial family home.

Hardinge Road sold for £1,925,000 (double height atrium with the modern, hanging chandelier over the staircase)

With amazing interior and lifestyle shops around the corner (including Verandah, Alternative Bathrooms, Habibi Interiors and Retrouvius) it’s no wonder the locals are inspired.

Currently on the market, Knight Frank is selling an end of terrace house on Carlisle Road which has been recently renovated throughout. The architects designed an incredible basement and the use of glass on the southern aspect of the house allows for natural light to flood through the house.

Internally the house is like a jewellery box of interior design gems – crittall style windows, splashes of colour and patterns in the wallpaper, tiles and rugs, minimalist kitchen and a top quality home-cinema, the images above say it all:

So the housing stock is amazing, but what is so great about living in Queen’s Park (NW6/NW10) or Kensal Rise?

Where do I start?  The ridiculously quick access into central London on the Bakerloo or overground, a commuters dream ( Oxford Street in 24 minutes) is a major plus.

The mix of great family homes and rental apartments, the stunning Victorian park, bang in the middle of Queen’s Park and Kensal Rise, Michiko Sushino sushi restaurant on Salusbury Road, Wolfpack bar on Lonsdale Road (founded by ex-Saracens rugby players), the colourful and inventive Parlour restaurant just off of Chamberlayne Road, the Maqam centre offering a spa-like swimming pool and chilled café and yoga space…. I could go on.
